Health Sciences Curriculum
Here is a project to try with your Academy of Health Sciences students this week:

Health Sciences: Do your students know how modern medicines are developed? In this four-step project from CTE Online, you can teach students the steps it takes to create a new medication, from early ideas and experiments through the approval and launch of a new product.

Part 1: Innovations in Medicine has your students learn the important and great advancements that pharmaceutical medications have contributed to healthcare.

Part 2: You Have to Take Medicine for That? introduces and researches the top medical conditions that affects the cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory, renal and digestive systems in Americans today.

Part 3: The FDA - It's the Law! showcases to students: drug regulation, the inception of the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), and the importance of new drug regulations for consumers.

Part 4: The Birth of a Medication reviews the process of getting medications approved and the marketing of new medications -- from conception to mass production -- alongside working with healthcare providers.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
Your students love TikTok, but did you know there’s content in there for you too? Check out 25 teachers you should follow on TikTok. Then get inspired by these teachers who are using video to share educational and engaging lessons on social media.
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
We’re exploring "Translanguaging" this week! Watch one of the world's experts, Dr. Ofelia García, offer an orientation on this practice and then listen to this podcast from Karen Silfa, who’s taught in NYC for nearly 20 years, illuminate the practice of translanguaging, starting with its role in computer science education.
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
Help students adjust to work-from-home. Check out this plug-and-play student workshop that addresses challenges students might be having learning or working remotely from home. Lesson plan with discussion questions and slide deck provided.
