IT & Engineering Curriculum
Check out our recommendations for your classroom this week:

Programming: Introduce students to programming with JavaScript with this self-paced module from P-Tech or have them try this Python tutorial from W3Schools.

Web/Digital Design: Combine what students have learned in HTML and CSS to create their own webpage with this course from Khan Academy.

Cybersecurity: Students can learn healthy habits involving cybersecurity safety from Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory! Then, they can learn how Cybersecurity is used in this P-Tech activity, where they’ll watch a team in action as they isolate cyberattacks and shut down the threat.

Computer Networks: Check out this course from the Networking Academy at Cisco that introduces students to Linux, the back-end operating system used by global titans such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, NASA, Tesla, Amazon and more.

Engineering: With this interactive assignment from PBS, students can explore different types of energy and decide which type should be used to power a city’s electric grid.

Integrated STEM Project: Have students defend their solution to a real-world problem as they work on the design of a projectile launcher.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
This year, engaging caregivers as co-teachers is more important than ever. Watch this webinar to learn strategies for connecting with caregivers during remote and hybrid learning, then learn how to avoid the three most common mistakes in distance teaching.

WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
September 15 - October 15 is Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month! Use this discussion activity in your classroom to help students gain a deeper understanding of past and present struggles for Latinx civil rights, then be sure to check your bias and identify areas of growth with this personal assessment.

WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
Looking to increase work-based learning opportunities for your academy students but need help bringing in more advisory board members and partners? Check out NAF’s recruitment best practices and our guide to engaging potential partners. Then watch this learning session from NAF Next 2020 on how to effectively engage your academy's advisory board.
