We encourage you to share this fun opportunity with your class! All participating students and alumni will be entered for a chance to win a iPad. The submission deadline is January 8, 2021.
Resource of the Week
The Value of Youth Voice in Education
Join us on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 3 PM EDT for a discussion with NAF’s Dr. Nick Minar, Dr. Julie Poncelet, and Katera Brown about the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) and the value of youth voice for education research.
Curriculum You Can Use
2020 is coming to an end and we know that it may feel like the year was a little too long. Check out the following resources our team can offer to close out 2020 on a good note:

Engineering: Check out this activity from Siemens where students are invited to design a Mars Rover, taking into account the condition of Mars.

Finance & Business: Help your students become better global citizens and learn about different cultures through this PBL Project, Marketing Faux Pas! Globalization through International Marketing.

Health Sciences: Use this PBL project to engage students in writing, creating, and illustrating an educational storybook to teach elementary-aged children the importance and techniques to Prevent the Spread of disease.

Hospitality & Tourism: Have your students use Google Earth and select different snapshots to create a brochure that sells their favorite city as a tourist destination by highlighting historical landmarks.

Information Technology: Students create an interactive simulation of a spacecraft docking at the ISS space station. This activity guide from NASA includes recommendations for beginner and advanced-level programming. Students can also experience the actual interface used by the astronauts from Space X.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
We loved the session “Assessment in a Hybrid World” at the CTE Is Essential virtual conference the week before Thanksgiving. Check out these assessment strategies from presenter Liz Gallo, which includes her contact info if you have any questions or need advice.
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
Listen to this episode of The PilotEd Podcast that focuses on interrupting implicit bias in the college admission process and a journey to being a college counselor. Then, read this literature review by The Black First-gen Collective including their call to action for more research on the experience of Black first-generation college students.
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
We need your help! To help communicate the value of having an internship in high school, we’re inviting current NAF students and alumni to record short videos talking about their internship stories. Please share this opportunity with your students—all participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of five iPads!
