Resource of the Week
Incorporating Hip Hop Culture into Educational Spaces
Join us for a conversation on November 19 at 3pm EST with Dr. Edmund Adjapong, Assistant Professor and Program Director within the Department of Educational Studies at Seton Hall University and former middle school science educator. Dr. Adjapong's current focus is on how to incorporate youth culture into educational spaces, specifically on utilizing hip-hop culture and sensibilities as an approach to teaching and learning.
Health Sciences Curriculum
Here are some resources for you to create a fun and exciting week:

Anatomy & Physiology: Use LabXchange’s Introduction to the Urinary System to highlight the physical characteristics of urine and the gross anatomy of the urine transport and the kidney. Reinforce the primary concepts with the Urinary System video.

Health Sciences: In this media-rich lesson, Using Biotechnology to Detect and Treat Disease, students learn how biotechnology's techniques and tools help identify and fight disease, while also examining the ethical and privacy issues associated with genetic testing.

Global Health: Apply health science lessons about the brain to real-life and teenage experiences! Check out this blog post, where Dana.org discusses how adolescent brains process risks and rewards.

Health Careers: Fewer roles in healthcare are as misunderstood as that of the night shift nurse. Use these resources, tools, and tips in the Night Shift Nurse Survival Guide to expose students to the opportunities in nursing.
