Resource of the Week
We’ve got just five spots left in this week’s training on Pear Deck! Join us on Wed, Oct 14 to get a free license and learn how to create an engaging virtual classroom.

Or if you need good content for creating a resume or preparing for interviews, check out our Open P-TECH pilot. You’ll earn a $250 stipend for piloting our new online course. There are four spots left!
Finance & Business Curriculum
Here are some new lesson and activity ideas for this week:

Finance & Business: Visa and the National Football League teamed up to create Financial Football, a fast-paced, interactive game that engages students while teaching them personal finance skills. This latest version features 3D graphics and game-changing opportunities with audibles, blitzes, and long yardage plays.

Economics: Remember the toilet paper shortage during the first months of COVID-19? Have your students participate in the Toilet Paper Wars to understand the competing forces of supply and demand. Then, use the simple calculator to figure out How Much Toilet Paper? they will need during the next crisis. This economics lesson is designed to be conversational.

Accounting: Use YouTube videos to introduce the Accounting Cycle, posting to the General Ledger, and creating a Trial Balance Report.

Entrepreneurship: Have your students experience the journey of real young entrepreneurs and research an entrepreneur's characteristics as they Design a New Drink.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
This week, get advice on managing "concurrent classrooms" from blended learning expert, Catlin Tucker. Then learn about managing the hybrid learning environment from Emma Pass, a Google Certified Trainer.
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
Watch this video from the Museum of African-American History and Culture, where Dr. DiAngelo helps us ask, "Why does understanding white privilege matter?" Dr. DiAngelo also appeared on Jimmy Fallon this past summer to talk about why white people should stop saying they’re not racist. Then check out this research showing that children not only recognize race from a very young age, but also develop racial biases by ages three to five.
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
Do you need help finding internships or putting together a strategic plan for your advisory board? These best practices for securing quality internships and for strategic planning were shared by advisory board leaders during several national and regional convenings.
