Internship Testimonials

NAF students and alumni! Did you have a really cool internship in high school? Do you want to share your high school internship experience? Do you want the chance to win an iPad?*

We need your help! As NAF seeks to increase the number of quality internship opportunities for our network, we find that student and alumni voices have the strongest impact on encouraging other students, as well as employers and community partners, to invest in these opportunities.

To help communicate the value of having an internship in high school, we invite current NAF students and alumni to showcase their internship stories with the NAF network.

*By submitting a completed video following the guidelines below, you will be entered into a drawing to receive one of five 10.2 Inch 32 GB Apple iPads (8th generation), or one of eight $50 Visa gift cards.

Follow the instructions below to record a short video sharing the value of your high school internship. Submission deadline is January 8th, 2021 at 5 pm EST.

Record Your 2-4 Minute Video

Grab your phone and follow the instructions below to record your video.

Say hello! Start your video by sharing your first and last name and where you were an intern (company, organization, etc).

For current students: include your school and academy.

For alumni: include your former high school and NAF academy, the college you attend(ed) and/or your current job title and company.

Please answer both prompts from Group A and then select one prompt from Group B.

Group A:

  1.  How was completing an internship in high school valuable to you?
  2. Why should other high school students complete internships?

Group B:

  1. Share the most valuable lesson that you learned from your internship. How have you applied that lesson since?
  2. Share a compelling story that highlights your internship experience.
  3. Share an experience unique to your internship that might not be found anywhere else or in any other type of job opportunity.
  4. Share one or two life or job-related skills that your internship helped grow.
  5. Share how your high school internship has helped shape your college and/or career journey.

Once you’ve finished recording, you can upload your video here. Please include your first and last name on the title of your video.

By sharing your video with NAF, you agree that NAF can reproduce, publish, transmit, and/or otherwise use such recordings, in whole or in part, on a perpetual, royalty-free basis in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter developed, in connection with NAF-related academy communication, websites, social media, and/or other materials, including, without limitation, for the promotion of NAF and its affiliates and members.

Tips For Your Video

  • Your video should be between 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Record your video horizontally (16:9).
  • Make sure you are sitting facing your light source so that you are well-lit. Do not sit with your light source behind you—that will cause your background to be bright and you—in the foreground—will be difficult to see.
  • Use a phone stand to record your video or find somewhere you can securely prop your phone so it stays put.
  • Position yourself slightly off-center to the camera (either left of center or right of center). That way we have room to add our captions.
  • Wear something that you would normally wear to work.
  • Record one video. We would like this to feel as close to an in-class guest speaker experience as possible. By recording one continuous video, instead of one video clip per question, the experience will be more genuine.
  • Choose a quiet location to record your video to reduce background noise.
  • Let your passion shine through. We encourage you to approach your video with enthusiasm and excitement.
  • Make it your own. Be authentic and let your personality come through.
  • You do not need to edit your own video or add any captioning.
