NAF's Education Today
We’ve heard from many educators about how the post-election news cycle has left you or your students feeling overwhelmed with a range of emotions. We hope these two self-care resources will be helpful for you as you navigate this historic time with your classroom: How to Cope with Election Stress from the Crisis Text Line and Post-Election Choice Board from anti-racist educator, Liz Kleinrock, that helps students think about how to take care of themselves.

Curriculum You Can Use
Here are some lessons and activities to try:

Engineering: Try this activity from DiscoverDesign and challenge your students to Design a Container House.

Finance & Business: Paying for college can be an unsettling thought for students. Try this game, Time for Payback, where your students can learn to manage their finances in college and earn scholarship money. Take the Payback Challenge before it ends on November 20th!

Health Sciences: Examine this article, the COVID-19 Pandemic Could Mark the Beginning of the 'Biotech Century,’ to give students an understanding of what COVID-19 has helped us recognize about the importance of biotech innovation.

Hospitality & Tourism: Working in the Hospitality and Tourism industry can be demanding. In this lesson, The Work-Life Balancing Act, students will learn time-saving techniques to balance a healthy work and life schedule.

Information Technology: Have your students recreate fun games like Four Corners, Minesweeper, or Othello in these challenges, using HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
Michele Haiken from ISTE highlights the "Best-of" Tips from Her Class on Virtual Instruction with Emma Pass, author of The Hybrid Teacher Survival Guide. We know you might be ready for some satire about the wildly difficult environment in which you are trying desperately to teach. Enjoy a laugh with the Hybrid Educator's To-Do List!
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
Helping seniors with their college essays this Fall will not be business as usual. Read this blog post that provides some tips to help guide your students through this process. Historically, higher education has been viewed as a game changer for Black and Hispanic/Latinx students. Watch this video and brief discussion that helps answer the what, why, and how to make positive gains in higher education.
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
KPMG will be hosting a live interactive session for high school students interested in Accounting, Finance, or Business on Tuesday, November 10 at 5pm ET. You’ll hear interactive presentations from KPMG professionals and learn about college readiness, employment, and resumes. This event is being hosted by NY Exploring but is open to students all across the country.
