NAF's Education Today
Learn, connect, and share your insight! Our upcoming events calendar is your go-to for virtual professional development and student events. We recommend you bookmark this page and check back weekly for new and exciting webinars and workshops that you can attend right from home!

Coming up this week, invite students to learn about managing their finances in an economic crisis and join us for our third installment of creating risk tolerant classrooms.
Resource of the Week
We Have 50 Free Licenses!
Want free access to the 72 Gold standard projects from myPBLWorks? Have you been itching to try Pear Deck? We’ve bought 50 licenses for each platform and are giving them away to the first 50 registrants for our upcoming webinars on October 1 (myPBLWorks) and October 14 (Pear Deck)
Finance & Business Curriculum
Here are lesson and activity ideas for this week:

Finance: NAF’s curriculum has a great lesson on Personal Budgeting. Teach students how to build a budget by dividing their income among needs, wants, savings and debt repayment, using the 50/30/20 budget. Then have them input their income and expenses into this free budget worksheet.

Accounting: Check out NAF’s introduction to the general ledger and trial balance, then share these videos to bring the concepts alive.

Business & Entrepreneurship: Students learn how to write a business plan with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s self-paced training! Follow this lesson up by having them create a business plan for a small business they’d like to open and self-evaluate their plans by using the business plan checklist.

HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
Pear Deck is one of our favorite online learning tools: it lets you add interactive questions to Google Slides or PowerPoint presentations and get student feedback while you teach. We’ve bought 50 free licenses. You can get yours if you join our demo! And while you’re at it, watch the recording of our recent webinar on how to build your confidence with teaching online.
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
In lieu of in-person guest speakers, students can listen to this conversation about bias and challenging the status quo between AT&T CEO, Anne Chow and CNN's Fredrika Whitfield. We also recommend listening to Kamau Bobb, Google's Global Diversity Strategy & Research Lead, talk about access to STEM education for all and what we can do
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
Start the school year off right by working with your advisory board to plan your academy's WBL calendar. Consider live and asynchronous experiences to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to engage in impactful WBL. Fill in this calendar to get started and check out these examples for inspiration.
