Resource of the Week
We’ve got just five spots left in this week’s training on Pear Deck! Join us on Wed, Oct 14 to get a free license and learn how to create an engaging virtual classroom.

Or if you need good content for creating a resume or preparing for interviews, check out our Open P-TECH pilot. You’ll earn a $250 stipend for piloting our new online course. There are four spots left!
IT & Engineering Curriculum
Here are some new lesson and activity ideas for this week:

Programming: The National Puppy Shelter is having a problem getting their dogs adopted. Have your students create virtual dogs generated in Javascript from CTE Online, to help potential adopters learn about the various breeds.

Web/Digital Design: In a school year like no other, use this activity from Girls Who Code to create a digital yearbook for your classmates that chronicles 2020!

Artificial Intelligence: In this project by CTE Online, Born Digital – Made Artificial, students will learn how Artificial Intelligence is advancing and will create their own form of A.I. to solve a real-world problem.

Computer Networks: Have your students learn about Blockchain essentials and earn a badge from IBM! You can register for free here.

Engineering: Have your students work in groups to create, promote, and market a STEM-themed amusement park in this activity by CTE Online.
HOW WE'RE TEACHING ONLINE
This week, get advice on managing "concurrent classrooms" from blended learning expert, Catlin Tucker. Then learn about managing the hybrid learning environment from Emma Pass, a Google Certified Trainer.
WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
Watch this video from the Museum of African-American History and Culture, where Dr. DiAngelo helps us ask, "Why does understanding white privilege matter?" Dr. DiAngelo also appeared on Jimmy Fallon this past summer to talk about why white people should stop saying they’re not racist. Then check out this research showing that children not only recognize race from a very young age, but also develop racial biases by ages three to five.
WHEN WORK-BASED LEARNING GOES VIRTUAL
Do you need help finding internships or putting together a strategic plan for your advisory board? These best practices for securing quality internships and for strategic planning were shared by advisory board leaders during several national and regional convenings.
