This week, our newsletter is focused on supporting students and educators through the rocky first weeks of online learning. We’ve got a great training where you can earn CEUs and learn how to improve your blended teaching; three live events for students on wellness and mental health, managing finances, and going to college; and our new Ask a NAF Expert open office hours where you can get live help from NAF staff any day of the week.

Hang in there, don’t be shy, and reply to this email or give us a call if we can help! And we’d always love a quick note to let us know what you think of these emails.
Resource of the Week
Build Your Online Facilitation Skills
Our first webinar with Naomi Harm was so popular we’re doing it again! Join us on Wednesday, Sept 16 at 3pm EDT to learn effective blended teaching and learning practices. Build your confidence and make your online learning experiences more engaging for students in this interactive webinar. Even if you can’t attend, you can still register if you want to receive the recording. CEUs available!
REMINDER: There's still time to register for Sharmayne Jenkins' three-part Educational Series on Cultural Consciousness & Competence coming up on Sep 15, 17, and 22.
Health Sciences Curriculum
Here are our favorite projects and activities you can use this week:

Anatomy & Physiology: Covid-19 impacts the respiratory system. Engage your students on learning more about these areas with this YouTube video on how the respiratory system works, then focus on how to take control of breathing, using annotated diagrams to reinforce student learning.

Biotech: Examine ethical issues related to medical research with this project from CTE Online, which explores potential impacts on civil rights, biotechnology, and the exploitation of vulnerable populations.

Health Careers & Global Health: Introduce how social and economic factors play a huge role in what makes us healthy, and use that to introduce the concept of public health and careers options in the field.
LIVE EVENTS FOR STUDENTS
College Promise and NAF are co-hosting three upcoming student discussions – please share these links with your students and encourage them to attend! (You’re welcome to join as well.)

WHAT WE'RE LEARNING - RACIAL EQUITY IN CTE
Some educators wonder if multicultural and social justice education are still relevant if most of their students are white. The answer is yes! By fostering a culture of acceptance and belonging in schools, NAF academies can build a foundation for students to thrive.
