At NAF, we are thankful for the many volunteers who have sacrificed their time to help our network of students grow and succeed. This week, help us celebrate these dedicated volunteers during National Volunteers Week (April 18-24)! NAF volunteers often come in the form of Advisory Board members, who play an essential role in preparing NAF students for college, career, and future success. Tell us about an advisory board member from your academy so we can give them a shout out on NAF’s social media.
Resource of the Week
Engage Your Students with Meaningful Blended Learning Experiences
Join Naomi Harm on April 20 to learn about online, student-centered experiences that promote engaged learning. You will wear the “hat of a student” and work together as a collaborative team to “jigsaw” a problem, then create, make, and document your new creative learning.
Curriculum You Can Use
Have you ever had students read an online article, only to find that they were distracted by extraneous advertisements or links to other irrelevant sites?

Here is a solution: Chrome extension's Insert Learning (IL), that enables you to turn any webpage into an interactive lesson. You can highlight key points, insert questions, comments, and videos. Students can also respond directly on the website, take notes, and participate in group discussions. Use Plan Your Internship Explore Lesson Plan to involve students in interactive learning experiences as they explore internship web resources.

Note: While we always strive to bring you content that is free, we believe that the Insert Learning Chrome extension will be a game-changer for your students’ comprehension who are often distracted by irrelevant content when reading web-based articles. You can test drive the extension for free for the first five lessons. To continue, there is a $40 annual fee.
ONLINE & HYBRID TEACHING
As more educators return to in-person teaching, we’re continuing to prioritize the social and emotional well-being of our students. Check out these tips from Common Sense Education for supporting SEL in your classroom.
RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
The Second Act can be more lucrative than the first, just ask Junior Bridgeman, a former NBA player. As an entrepreneur, Bridgeman has developed his skills on and off the court by acquiring 160 Wendy's and 120 Chili’s locations. Use his story to introduce entrepreneurship or compete in a business plan competition like Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
