This week is National Engineers Week! To get students excited about the vast field of engineering, NAF partnered with Verizon to add new short videos to our guest speaker library (more videos to come this week!). Will you be celebrating National Engineers Week? Resource of the Week
Celebrating Black Engineers
In celebration of Black History Month, Raytheon Technologies held a virtual presentation where four Black Engineers shared their stories of overcoming social barriers, excelling professionally, and defining their future of aerospace and defense with Raytheon Technologies.
Curriculum You Can Use
Our month-long celebration of CTE Month continues this week as students add context to their career academy marketing plans. Over the past weeks, students conducted research, gathered digital artifacts, and created a virtual brochure with a graphic design program.

For this week, students will envision their career pathways post-graduation. Have your students also try out these new applications like Book Creator, Sploder, and GDevelop.

Next week:
  • Week 4: Virtual Presentation – Complete the marketing plan and present.
ONLINE & HYBRID TEACHING
Try these 7 tips for breakout room success from Edutopia to help you build deeper levels of connection with your students and create better online small group discussions.
RACIAL EQUITY IN PRACTICE
Ursula Burns, the first African-American woman to serve as CEO of a Fortune 500 Company, discusses how she broke multiple glass ceilings in the world of STEM. Have your students stay up-to-date in career trends and their career interests with the Occupational Outlook Handbook from the U.S. Department of Labor.
EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT
NAF recently developed a SWOT Analysis resource to assist advisory boards to use data to uncover priorities and prepare for strategic planning sessions before the end of the school year. These instructions help through the process of collecting and analyzing data as well as surveying members' opinions.
