How are you celebrating today's March fourteenth? While you grab that slice of pie, here at NAF, we celebrate the women who have made amazing accomplishments in the field of mathematics. Did you know that in 2019, Emma Haruka Iwao, a computer scientist, calculated a new record length of pi at 31 trillion digits? Celebrate and learn more about the diverse women in mathematics and fifteen accomplished female mathematicians.
March fourteenth really adds up to be sweet with math, pi, and pie!
Resource of the Week
Celebrate "Her-Story"
Join us for the “Her- Story” global collaboration project webinar on Tuesday, March 16. This is an opportunity for you to discover and guide your students with multiple STEM, CS, and maker projects to celebrate Women's History Month and a local community leader's "Her-Story" accomplishments.
Curriculum You Can Use
The COVID-19 pandemic created a world dependent on the virtual environment and accelerated the importance of effective communication on digital platforms. Keeping the idea of extensive solutions to a major change in mind, we want to continue to challenge students to answer the question: What Problem Do You Want to Solve?

In our Week 2 Lesson Plan, continue to use the 5E Instructional Model as students progress to explaining their problems’ causes and solutions. Have them utilize platforms such as Screencastify and Flipgrid to enhance their presentation skills and practice efficient and concise communication with their audience.
